7. Is smoking a sin?

Yes, smoking is a sin, because it defiles and destroys the body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit and does not belong to us because it was purchased by God, as it is written: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Therefore, even though the Scripture doesn’t state expressly that we must not smoke, we who are disciples of Christ must abstain from smoking for the above mentioned reasons.
